Warmest Wishes

We have a fun sketch for you this week. I had a couple of ideas for those five little boxes, but I finally decided to go for colourful snowflakes. Sweet, simple, and bright! I used the smallest die from Let It Snowflake Too Die-namics to die-cut the snowflakes. The sentiment is from Hug in a Mug stamp set.

Happy Holidays

Brrr! It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. Our monthly Hits & Highlights feature is all about cool shades of blues and purples this month. I love using untraditional colours on my Christmas cards and this combination is one of my favourites.

I stamped the trees from the Trio of Trees stamp set in varying shades of blue and purple. The background was created with Wilted Violet, Shaded Lilac, and Dusty Concord Distress Ink. I added some tiny white snowflakes and Sparkling Crystals to complete the scene. The crystals add just the right amount of sparkle to the card (they don't look good in this photo, but in person they look amazing).

Sending Holiday Cheer

Are you ready for another color challenge? We have a fun one for you this week and since I am still in holiday card making, I decided to make this a holiday card. I stamped this adorable owl from Warm & Feathered Friends on X-Press It card stock and I coloured it with Copics.

I created the background with the Fa la la Die-namics. I love using this die to create a subtle background.

Snow-one Else Like You

I have a fun snowmen card to share with you today. I had planned on giving you some tips about masking in this post, but my card making took a bit of a turn with this one. A fairly simple masking project turned into a card salvaging project. LOL

I started out by stamping my two snowmen on my card stock and then on Post-It tape. I like to use Post-It tape for masking because it sticks so well. I cut out the snowmen and carefully placed them on the card stock over top of the images. You want to be as exact as possible doing this so there are no white spaces left when you pull up the mask.

At this point, things are still going well!  I sponged on Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and Picked Raspberry Oxide ink. The Oxide Inks blend so effortlessly, I LOVE them! I then added some snow with the Snowfall Stencil and Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink. I peeled off the mask and filled in any little white spots that were left on the sides of the images with a paintbrush and Oxide Ink.  The Oxide ink is so wet it works wonderfully for this trick.

This is where disaster struck. LOL I grabbed a couple of Copics and started to colour the lights. I hadn't paid attention to the card stock I started with, needless to say, the card stock was not Copic friendly! My red ink started to bleed almost immediately. I tried in vain to clean it up with Blender Solution, but there was nothing I could do.

I really liked how the background had turned out and I didn't want to start over again, so I stamped the snowmen on X-press It card stock, coloured them with Copics and then fussy cut them out. If you should find yourself in a similar situation and you need to fussy cut your image, I recommend taking a non-Copic black marker or pencil and running it along the edges of your image. That will hide any white card stock that may be showing.

Once I had the snowmen coloured and safely adhered to the card stock, I added a little bit of shimmer to the left side of their bodies. That little bit of sparkle will catch your eye, but it is not too overwhelming.

Thank you so much for joining me again today. I hope you learned a tip or two. Be sure to check out the MFT Blog to see all the amazing creations the design team has to share with you today.

I'm Sorry I Forgot Your Birthday

We are getting wild with our Birthday Project this month. As you can see, my little elephant is more cute than wild. :)

I stamped this little cutie from Adorable Elephants on X-Press It card stock and I colored him with Copics. The image was then masked off and I created the sky with the Mini Cloud Stencil.

Warm & Fuzzy Winter Wishes

We have a fabulous sketch for you this week. I decided to ink up the adorable Warm & Feathered Friends stamps set. I stamped the image on X-Press It card stock, I coulored it with Copics and finished it off with a few strokes with Pablos pencils.

Sassy Pants Holiday

We are back with a few of our favourite friends to take another look at the new release. I created a couple of projects to share with you that feature the Sassy Pants Holiday stamp set. I love the fun sentiments in this set, they aren't for everyone, but I know lots of people will enjoy them.

I paired a fun sentiment from Sassy Pants Holiday with five festive martini glasses from the Martini Time stamp set. I stamped the martinis in Green Room and Wild Cherry Premium Dye Ink.

There always seems to be lots of wine flowing during the holidays so I like to make sure that I have a few extra wine tags on hand for Christmas giving.

Here's a closer look at the wine tag. I created a shaker tag with the Christmas Tree Window Die-namics. I die-cut the tag in Smooth White card stock and inked it up with Broken China Oxide Ink. The ornaments on the tree were coloured with Copics. The sentiment from the Sassy Pants Holiday stamp set was the perfect finishing touch.

Snowflake Window Luminaria

Thank you for joining me as we count down to the MFT release. We are four days away from the big day! All the new Stamps and Die-namics will be available on Tuesday, November 13 at 10:00 am EDT. Be sure to check out the MFT Blog to see all the new items being revealed today. Don't forget to leave a comment on the MFT Blog countdown posts, YOU could win one of the five $75.00 gift vouchers.

Today I am sharing a project with one of my favourtie dies from this release, the Snowflake Window Die-namics. As soon as I saw this die I knew I was going to make a luminaria. To start I die-cut pieces of Brushed Silver card stock with the Snowflake Window Die-namics. I cut two pieces of Blueberry card stock to 8 1/2" x 5" and scored each piece at 3 3/4" and 7 1/2". These two pieces will create the four walls of the luminaria.

I placed a rectangle die centered in the middle of each pannel, and I die-cut out the rectangle. I added sheets of vellum to the backside of the card stock, and then I adhered the silver snowflake windows to the front side of the card stock. The two pieces of card stock were then folded and adhered together.

I created a top for the luminaria, you certainly don't need to, but I like the way it finishes things off.  I cut the top piece at 4"x4" and I scored all sides at 3/8". I used a battery operated light for the candle.
