Hello, Beautiful

The Beautiful Bloom card kit is available now! Be sure to get yours before it sells out!

I have two fun cards to share with you today, I was inspired by Steph's Rainbow Summer School Class. I stamped the gorgeous Beautiful Bloom image on Smooth White card stock.

To create the rainbow background I used Red Hot, Orange Zest, Lemon Drop, Limelight, Blu Raspberry, Cornflower, Boysenberry, and Ripe Raspberry card stock. I love the contrast of the beautiful rainbows against the black and white floral.

Hello

We've got a fabulous new sketch for you this week. I decided to ink up one of the amazing new sets of Die-namics from the new release, Birds of a Feather. This set is full of fabulous dies! I die-cut the birds, flowers, and leaves in No-Line Coloring card stock and I colored them with Copics. To replicate the border in the sketch, I created a line of flowers and leaves. The birds were colored with Copics and Watercolor Pencils.

Captivating Mandala

We're back with a few of our favourite friends to take another look at the latest MFT release. One of the products that I didn't have a chance to work with during the countdown was the fabulous Captivating Mandala Die-namics. This is such a pretty die!

For my first card, I inked up the background with Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Broken China, and Wilted Violet Oxide Ink. I spritzed it with a touch of water before adding the white mandala. The sentiment is from the new From Me to You stamp set.

For my second card, I created a fun shaker card. The mandala die is just perfect for shaker cards.  I inked up the mandala with a few Oxide Inks, and then I filled the shaker with a number of different sizes of clear sequins and crystals. They look amazing in person, just the right amount of sparkle behind the mandala.

Miss You

I hope you enjoyed all the release projects the team has shared with you over the last week or so. I have another fun project to share with you today. I have received lots of questions about how I add foil to alcohol inked backgrounds. I thought I would share that technique today. I learned this technique at our recent MFT Retreat, Jody Morrow shared it with the group.

I gathered my supplies, Yupo card stock, alcohol inks, alcohol blending solution, and Deco Foil. I went for a blue, green, purple color combination.

To start out, I inked up a sheet of Yupo card stock. I layered about three layers of ink on this one piece. I dried each layer using an air compressor, before layering on the next layer. You want to get some dark, sticky spots where the ink meets.

Once I was happy with the way that the ink looked, I covered the Yupo paper with a sheet of Silver Foil. I rubbed the foil on top of the card stock. You don't want to scratch, just rub it with your fingertips. The next step was to pull up the foil. To add a little more silver,  I placed the foil down a couple of times in different places. You can use the foil sheet quite a few times.

My final step was to add the sentiment. I triple stacked the Miss You sentiment which is our Free with $60 Die-namics this month. To line up the words on my card, I use the negative die-cut. I secured it with Post It tape and then I add the die-cuts using the negative as a guide. Once the sentiment is secure, I carefully pull back the negative.

Here's one last picture of the card, you can probably see the silver foil a little better here.

Thank you so much for joining me again today. I hope you learned a tip or two. Be sure to check out the MFT Blog to see all the amazing creations the design team has to share with you today.
