Halloween Banner

It's time for our monthly MFT Design Team Creative Challenge. With Halloween right around the corner, we are sharing some ideas for Halloween card, treats, and home decor. I decided to create a bright and colourful Halloween Banner that my little friends might enjoy.

The banners were created with the Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX Die-namics. I picked four basic colours for the banner, Black Licorice, Grape Jelly, Orange Fizz, and Sour Apple. I alternated amongst the Grape Jelly, Orange Fizz, and Sour Apple for the large banner pieces. The middle and top banner pieces were all done in Orange Fizz and Black Licorice.

Along the top edge of each banner piece I added some sparkling, dripping, goo. The goo was created with the Dripping Goo Edge Die-namics and the Sheer Sparkle Glitter Glaze.

The letters were die-cut with the By the Letters Uppercase Die-namics, the circles were die-cut with the Pierced Circle STAX Die-namics. To give the letters a little extra texture, they each received a liberal coating of Crystal Effects.

I added a few bats, spiders, and ghosts to finish off the banner. The bats and ghosts both came from the Spooky Scene Die-namics, the spider is from the Centerpieces Spooky Window Die-namics.

The banner pieces were attached to a piece of 1/4" grosgrain ribbon.

Be sure to check out the MFT Blog to see what Halloween treats the Design Team has in store for you today.

I have one more set of Halloween treats to share with you on Friday and then there will be a whole bunch of Christmas everywhere on the blog for the next few weeks.

Geek Is Chic

When I saw this week's Cutting Edge Challenge I knew I would have to create a card for it. I was inspired by the elements along the left hand side of the card, the colours, and all the white space on the inspiration picture.

To create the chevrons along the left hand side, I used the Peek-a-Boo Chevrons Die-namics. I filled in the chevrons with Blu Raspberry and Razzle Berry card stock. The gingham ribbon is from my really old stash of Stampin' Up! ribbon.

The funky glasses were die-cut with the Geek Is Chic Glasses Die-namics. The fabulous sentiment is from the Geek Is Chic stamp set by Laina Lamb.

On the inside of the card, I used another sentiment from the Geek Is Chic stamp set and a small pair of glasses from the Geek Is Chic Glasses Die-namics.

Be sure to hop on over to the Cutting Edge Challenge to check out the challenge.

Festive Friday #4 - Halloween Treat Bags

We have two special little goblins that will visit us this Halloween night. Rowan will be showing his little sister Violet, just how this whole trick or treating thing is done. I can't wait to see them in their costumes. Of course I had to make up a special treat bag for each of them. We will fill these with all sorts of Halloween treats for our two favourite monsters. :)

I created the bags using a standard size lunch bag that I cut down to 8" in length. I cut two pieces of Orange Fizz card stock to 5 1/4" x 8 1/2" for the front and the back of the bag. I used a ton of glitter paper on this project.

For Rowan's bag I used a number of the dies from the Spooky Scene Die-namics. I've certainly got a ton of use out of this set of dies. The hills were created with the Snow Drifts Die-namics. The sweet little pumpkins are from the Witch Way is the Candy? Die-namics.

The ghosts were die-cut in Smooth White card stock and they received a little shimmer with a Wink of Stella pen. The bats were die-cut in Black Licorice card stock and they received some shine with the Sheer Sparkle Glitter Glaze.

For sweet Violet's bag I used two different dies to create the happy cauldron. The cauldron was die-cut with the Witch's Cauldron Die-namics, the face was die-cut with the Paper Bags Peek-a-Boos Die-namics. I used the Sun, Moon, and Stars Die-namics to die-cut all the shinny stars.

I have one more set of Halloween treats to share with you next Friday and then I'm going to dive into Christmas cards, decorations, and treats.
